As the summer nights rendered the Moon so bright, I was completely entranced with how bright the moon was and how large it looked, when we are so small, so far away. This made me wonder about the Moon and the other moons in the solar system that orbit our planets.
I then researched our moons, large or small, looking at the craters of the surface, or gases where there was no hard surface and just found it fascinating. I then experimented with paint, watercolours, paper, clay and other materials to create jewellery moons, and how to make moon-like textures, with diamonds scattered to emulate craters.
Each moon element is completely hand-made by first creating the ‘moon’ by melting down solid gold and then hammering them flat to make organic moon shape, doming them to give them a spherical feel and texturing them with hammers and sandpaper to give them a moon-like texture. The diamonds are then flush set to create little sparkles on your very own little moons.
