Changing Shape Hoop Earrings
There are periods in life where you can feel yourself changing before you fully understand what you are becoming.
Your priorities shift. Your relationships evolve. Your body, confidence, ambitions and sense of self begin to move differently through the world. Parts of you soften. Other parts strengthen. Slowly, almost invisibly, you begin taking on a new shape.
Changing Shape was designed as a reflection on that process — the continual evolution of identity over time.
The sculptural hoop moves in a flowing, organic line rather than a fixed perfect circle. The form subtly expands and contracts as it curves around itself, creating a silhouette that feels alive and in motion, as though the gold itself is adapting as it moves.
Unlike traditional hoops, which often symbolise completion or permanence, Changing Shape embraces fluidity instead. The softly shifting outline reflects the understanding that growth is not linear, fixed or final. We are constantly reshaped by experience, memory, love, loss and time.
Made entirely by hand in solid 9k gold using traditional goldsmithing techniques, each hoop is individually formed, soldered and polished in my London studio. The curves intentionally retain a sense of softness and human movement, allowing the piece to feel intimate rather than mechanically uniform.
Gold becomes a metaphor for transformation itself: a material that can be heated, stretched, compressed and reshaped, yet never loses its essence.
Changing Shape is a piece about allowing yourself to evolve without needing to remain who you once were.
