Private Commissions & Custom Orders — Terms of Engagement

At Lucen, bespoke commissions are created through a collaborative process of design, craftsmanship, and quiet intention. Each private commission is individually sculpted to reflect the wearer’s story, making every piece entirely unique.

Consultation & Design Development

  • The bespoke process begins with an initial consultation, either in person or remotely.

  • During this stage, we explore your ideas, inspirations, materials, and design preferences.

  • Following our consultation, you will receive a design proposal which may include sketches, renders, and material sourcing guidance.

Quotation & Pricing

  • Once the design is agreed upon, a formal quotation will be provided.

  • The quotation includes all materials, design work, labour, setting, finishing, and taxes where applicable.

  • Prices are valid for 30 days from quotation, due to the fluctuation of metal and gemstone markets.

Deposit & Payment Schedule

To begin your commission, we require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the agreed total. This secures your materials and studio time.

  • The balance will be payable upon completion and prior to delivery.

  • In certain complex or extended projects, staged payments may be agreed to reflect key milestones (design finalisation, stone sourcing, casting, etc).

Timeline

  • Most commissions require approximately 8–12 weeks from deposit to completion.

  • Exact timelines will be discussed based on design complexity, gemstone availability, and studio schedule.

Modifications

  • Once production has commenced, design changes may not be possible.

  • Any requested changes after approval may incur additional fees, to be agreed prior to further work.

Cancellations

  • Once a deposit is received and work has commenced, the commission is considered firm and binding.

  • Deposits are non-refundable as they cover design development, labour, and the sourcing of materials specifically for your piece.

  • In exceptional cases of cancellation, Lucen reserves the right to retain part or all of payments made depending on the work completed.

Ownership & Studio Records

  • All original design concepts remain the intellectual property of Lucen, unless otherwise agreed.

  • We reserve the right to photograph and share completed works for portfolio and marketing purposes (client anonymity can be preserved upon request).

Collection & Delivery

  • Upon completion and final payment, your commission will be carefully packaged and delivered via insured courier or made available for collection by appointment.

Aftercare

  • Every Lucen commission includes long-term care advice.

  • Complimentary annual inspections and cleaning are available for private clients by appointment.

Ethical Sourcing Commitment

  • We work exclusively with trusted suppliers to ensure the ethical sourcing of all gemstones and metals.

  • Transparency and integrity remain central to every commission.
